Project Update:
Due to a court decision regarding the Pelayo Beach Access property ownership, Walton County government is required by court judgement to relocate the existing boardwalk at the Pelayo Beach Access property from its current location to a perpetual easement on the west side of the property. Beach visitors to this public beach access will continue to have access across the upland property and be able to enjoy the entire beach area south of the dune system on this property. The county is in the process of seeking bids for the construction of the boardwalk. County officials estimate the new boardwalk could be completed by March 1, 2024.
