Yard Waste Collection
YARD WASTE PICKUP SCHEDULES
North Walton Area - Yard waste in the North Walton Area is picked up once a month. Please have your yard waste placed prior to pickup.
South Walton Area (Including Areas North of the Bay) - Yard waste is picked up weekly in the South Walton Area.
YARD WASTE COLLECTION - RESPONSIBILITY AND FEES
As part of Walton County's contract with WM, yard waste will be picked up on a regular schedule at no cost to residents, but to be collected it must meet specific guidelines.
Yard waste that does not meet the guidelines will not be picked up by WM, per contract, and the resident must schedule a separate pickup of the materials. In addition, any costs associated with an out of specification pickup will be the responsibility of the resident.

YARD WASTE GUIDELINES AND SPECIFICATIONS
Yard Waste is collected by a separate collection vehicle based on your location in the County.
Yard waste materials must meet the following guidelines:
- Materials resulting from the on-site landscaping maintenance
- Materials should be no longer than 6 feet or larger than 4 inches in diameter
- Loose materials (leaves, pine needles, grass clippings, etc.) should be bagged or containerized. All other material should be neatly stacked
- Materials must be stacked in piles or in containers that weight 50 pounds or less
- Materials do not include tree removal, land clearing, land development, building demolition, construction, home improvement, named or un-named storms, or waste generated by tree surgeons, landscapers or lawn maintenance services. It does not include hazardous or special waste
- Materials cannot be commingled with other waste
- Materials are limited to 4 cubic yards (10 bags or five stacks) and should be no larger than the size of a regular size pickup truck bed
Please note, if there is yard trash material that requires a boom or claw truck, there will be an additional charge for the use of that equipment. If the materials can be loaded into a rear load vehicle, and are less than 4 cubic yards, there will be no additional charge if they are containerized and/or stacked.

Solid Waste Collection Franchise Renewal and Extension Agreement - March 1, 2011
Article 1 – Definitions
1.14 "Curbside Yard Trash Residential Collection Service" means the Yard Trash collection services provided to persons occupying Single Family Dwelling Units within the designated Franchise Area, including Single Family Dwelling Units located in mobile home parks who receive collection services at curbside.
1.32 "Yard Trash means vegetative matter resulting from landscaping maintenance, including accumulation of lawn, grass, shrubbery cuttings or clippings and dry leaf rakings, palm fronds, small tree branches (Which shall not exceed six (6) feet in length and four (4) includes in diameter), bushes or shrubs, green leaf cuttings, fruits, or other matter usually created as refuse in the care of lawns and yards, accept large branches/ trees, or bulky or non-containerized material not susceptible to normal domestic households. Yard Trash does not include any form of matter or debris resulting from tree removal, land cleaning, land development, building demotion, construction, home improvement, named or un-named storms, or waste generated by tree surgeons, landscapers or lawn maintenance services.
Additionally, Yard Trash does not include Hazardous Waste or Special Waste and cannot be commingled with other waste."
4.2 - Curbside Trash Collection Service
(a) Frequency of Collection: Waste Management shall collect Yard Trash from Single Family Dwelling Units within Service area A, One (1) time per week and one (1) one time per month in Service area B.
(b) Point of Pickup of Yard Trash: Collection of Yard Trash shall be at Curbside or other such locations as will provide ready accessibility to Waste Management's collection crew and vehicle. In the event an appropriate location cannot be agreed upon, the County Administrator or designee shall designate the location.
(c) Preparation of Yard Trash for Collection: Waste Management shall pick up all Yard Trash generated from Single Family Dwelling Units which has been properly prepared and stored for collection as follow:
(i) Residents are responsible for separating Yard Trash from all other Solid Wastes, Bulk Wastes, and Recyclable Materials. Grass Clippings, leaves, pine needles, trimmings and other such materials must be in a Yard Trash Receptacle.
(ii) Yard Trash shall be placed in Yard Trash Receptacles or bundles of less than fifty (50) pounds each whenever practical and with no dimension over, six (6) feet in length and four (4) inches in diameter each. Items of Yard Trash which are not easily containerized or bundled and which do not exceed six (6) feet in length and four (4) inches in diameter or weigh more than fifty (50) pounds shall be collected unbundled. Waste Management will pick up not more than ten (10) bags or five (5) bundles from anyone Single Family Swelling Unit.
(iii) Waste Management shall not knowingly commingle Yard Trash with Solid Waste, Bulk Waste, or Recyclable Materials.
(d) There Is no “(d)" in article 4.2
(e) Method of Collection of Yard Trash: Any Yard Trash spilled by Waste Management shall be picked up immediately by Waste Management. Any property of others damaged by Waste Management shall be repaired or replaced by Waste Management. Waste Management shall collect Yard Trash separately from all other Solid Waste, Bulk Waste, and Recyclable Materials. Waste Management shall deliver the Yard Trash collected pursuant to this Agreement to the Yard Trash Processing Facility.
(f) Vacant Lots: Waste Management shall not be responsible for the collection of Yard Trash on vacant lots.
(g) Disposal of Yard Trash: Waste Management shall transport and deliver all Yard Trash collected to a Yard Trash Processing Facility operated by County. There shall be no disposal or tipping fee charged to Waste Management for the delivery of Yard Trash to a Yard Trash Processing Facility.
Amendment to Agreement - Effective May 1, 2015 1. Article 1 DEFINITIONS is amended by modifying or adding the following definitions:
1.32 "Yard Trash" means vegetative matter resulting from on-site landscaping maintenance, including accumulation of lawn, grass, shrubbery cuttings or clippings and dry leaf rakings, palm fronds, small tree branches (which shall not exceed six (6) feet in length and four (4) inches in diameter), bushes or shrubs, green leaf cuttings, fruits, or other matter usually created as refuse in the care of lawns and yards, except large branches, trees, or bulky or non-containerized material not susceptible to normal loading and collection in loader packer type sanitation equipment used for regular collections from domestic households. Yard Trash does not include any form of matter or debris resulting from tree removal, land clearing, land development, building demolition, construction, home improvement, named or un-named storms, or waste generated by tree surgeons, landscapers or lawn maintenance services. Additionally, Yard Trash does not include Hazardous Waste or Special Waste and cannot be commingled with other waste.
1.33 "Yard Trash Processing Facility" means facilities designated by the County for the purpose of processing Yard Trash.
