The District 1 Commissioner’s Office in conjunction with the Florida Department of Health - Walton County and PanCare of Florida will be hosting two community engagement meetings to discuss health care needs within District 1.
The first meeting will be held at the Red Bay Community Center on May 1st at 5:00pm. The Red Bay Community Center is located at 10624 Rock Hill Road, Ponce de Leon.
The second meeting will be held at the Valley View Community Center on May 2nd at 5:00pm. The Valley View Community Center is located 9032 County Highway 183 South, Ponce de Leon.
These meetings will focus on the potential of providing additional health care opportunities to the residents of District 1.
All residents are encouraged to attend.

Farming can be challenging to get into, so for people interested in starting a business or taking up growing things as a hobby, the University of Florida IFAS Extension Service is presenting a series of educational workshops. These workshops will cover topics such as soil and water, growing fruits and vegetables, sustainable pest management, and farm business.
The sessions will be held the following dates and times:
• March 7 at the County Extension Office in DeFuniak Springs
• April 4 at the Jackson County Extension Office in Marianna
• May 2 at the North Florida Research and Education Center in Quincy.

Items that will be sold at the yard sale include items that the county has surplused that are no longer used or needed by the County, as well as items that are collected through the County’s recycling program at the landfill.
The landfill gates will open at 6:30am to facilitate parking, however entrance to the sale will not be allowed until 7am.
The following rules will be in place for this event:
• The County will not be holding a pre-sale viewing.
• Items must be paid for with Cash or local check.
• All items will be sold on a first come, first serve basis.
• All items are priced as marked and will not be negotiated.
• All items are purchased as is and contain no County liability or warranty.
• All purchased items must be removed from the grounds following purchase. (Assistance with loading will be provided)
• All sales will be final.
• All items must be paid for at time of sale and cannot be held.
• Stockpiling of merchandise will not be permitted.

This workshop will feature Walton County Horticulture Agent Daniel Leonard and will demonstrate how choosing the proper cultivar of crape myrtle and maintaining them correctly can transform your landscape! Learn which cultivars flourish in Florida and why, which ones to avoid, how to properly prune and maintain them, and how to design a landscape using Crape Myrtle.
